Highlights of the FairCarboN Annual Days in Le Croisic

Between 3 and 6 November, the FairCarboN 2025 Annual Days were held at the Domaine de Port aux Rocs in Le Croisic, bringing together more than 150 participants around a central theme: carbon in continental ecosystems.

The event opened with a presentation by Martial Bernoux (FAO), dedicated to the important role of carbon in continental ecosystems within international conventions and environmental challenges.

An evening session was devoted to Marion Guillou (High Council for the Climate, former President of INRA), in conversation with Annette Gerlach (ARTE journalist) and the FairCarboN community. Together, they discussed the issue of climate‑related misinformation.

These days were also an opportunity to:

  • highlight the scientific progress of the programme’s projects,
  • discuss stakeholder expectations and research perspectives on measuring carbon fluxes,
  • TEASER, in 3 minutes, the work of FairCarboN’s young researchers,
  • run a new session of the “Ma Terre en 180 minutes” workshops, encouraging reflection on the carbon footprint of our research,
  • organise a field visit to the Trou bleu viewpoint in Lavau‑sur‑Loire,
  • and, new this year, admire the live sketches created by illustrator Donnatelle Liens — which we will share very soon!
  • These moments of exchange and conviviality once again illustrated the richness of the FairCarboN community and its collective commitment to improving the understanding and management of carbon in ecosystems.
