ALAMOD Annual Meeting 2025: A day of exchanges and scientific advances!

On February 10, the ALAMOD community gathered for a day rich in discussions and knowledge sharing on carbon modeling in different ecosystems.

A look back at the day's highlights
An essential introduction
The day began with an introduction and presentation of the latest developments in ANR project monitoring. This set the scene for recent developments and future challenges.

Advances in forest modelling
Discussions highlighted the importance of interoperable data to better model the evolution of carbon stocks in forests.
The latest advances in remote sensing were presented, notably to refine the estimation of carbon stocks and biomass.
In-depth discussions were held on the integration and use of data to improve model accuracy. Links between ALAMOD and other PEPR projects were identified.

Focus on field crops and grasslands
Researchers presented their latest work on soil data models and their interoperability with other types of data.
A special focus was placed on agricultural sites, with an emphasis on carbon storage in developing countries and its implications for climate change mitigation.

Finally, advances were shared on soil-plant models, highlighting their impact on the carbon balance of crops and grasslands.

Cross-disciplinary work to open up new perspectives
The issue of open data and data rights was addressed, highlighting the challenges linked to the accessibility and use of data in research.

Work on infrared spectroscopy, N2O emissions and data from tropical zones was also presented, paving the way for new collaborations/activities?

Finally, discussions focused on carbon stocks and fluxes, with major advances in their quantification and monitoring.

The day opened up new perspectives and strengthened exchanges between researchers and experts: opportunities for collaboration between ALAMOD and other funded projects were identified.

Many thanks to the moderators and speakers for the richness of the discussions and the quality of the presentations!
