FairCarboN

As an exploratory PEPR-funded project, FairCarboN is striving to quantitatively assess how continental ecosystems can contribute to carbon fluxes and storage at different spatiotemporal scales under climate change. One objective is to propose regional management strategies that will influence public policies and stakeholder decisions.

FairCarboN will generate much-needed research on continental ecosystems, which is crucial to producing accurate carbon assessments at local, national, European, and global levels. The broader goal is to design practical strategies for achieving carbon neutrality by 2050 at these multiple scales. To be successful, this ambitious project will need to draw on innovative solutions arising from the biophysical and socioeconomic sciences.

In this section, we explain FairCarboN’s background, its main scientific objectives, and its resources.
