CABESTAN 2024 annual meeting

CABESTAN meeting: 2024 review and 2025 outlook

This meeting marked a key milestone for the CABESTAN project, with a review of 2024 actions, the integration of new members and ambitious preparations for 2025.
Highlights of 2024:

Flagship actions: launch in Le Mans (January), submission of the SMP (February), data collection (March) and a collaborative campaign in the Canche estuary (July).
Team strengthened: 4 PhD students and 2 post-docs joined the project, enriching scientific and methodological approaches.

Outlook and 2025 project:

Study sites and innovations:

Test of eddy covariance mobile towers in the Paris region (winter 2025).
Deployment in the Bassin d'Arcachon (2026), with Lidar measurements and complements such as flow chambers.
Exploration of new sites (Brouage, Baie de Lanveur, Loire, Gironde).

Optimizing collaboration:

Creation of a shared document to coordinate maneuvers and pool skills.
Organization of collaborative campaigns adapted to the methodological and logistical constraints of each site.

Scientific challenges:

Study carbon storage in a variety of contexts (mudflats, depoldering, estuaries).
Develop tools such as hyperspectral remote sensing to map flux and biomass.

Many thanks to all participants for their involvement and contributions.

See you in 2025 to turn these ambitions into concrete action !
