[Pariscience] - Highlights of FairCarboN participations

On Saturday 25 October, the FairCarboN PEPR team took part in the Pariscience Festival’s Agora for a morning of inspiring exchanges between scientists, researchers, and citizens on the topic of carbon and ecosystems.

Understanding the role of continental ecosystems

How do forests, soils, and peatlands contribute to carbon storage? Under what conditions can they help mitigate climate change?

These were some of the questions explored by the scientists, illustrated through the insights of Professor VerCarbone (Anita Van Quynh), with contributions from:

  • Pierre Barré (CNRS – ENS), who provided an overview of the FairCarboN programme,
  • Daniel Gilbert (Université Marie et Louis Pasteur), who shed light on the role of peatlands,
  • Patricia Garnier (INRAE), who discussed cultivated lands and forests,
  • Anita Van Quynh (ENS – Laboratoire de Géologie), in her role as Professeure VerCarbone, who shared educational video capsules illustrating the importance of coupling biogeochemical cycles and ecosystem health for carbon storage.

The presentation videos by Professor VerCarbone are available below.
